Care About Your Care in South Central PA

During the month of September, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, TV’s Dr. Mehmet Oz and dozens of national organizations worked together on Care About Your Care, a focused, one-month effort to spark conversation and galvanize attention about what consumers can do to identify and receive better health care.

Right now, it’s a coin toss whether patients receive all of the care that experts recommend for their condition. Research shows it only happens about half the time– but here in York and Adams counties we’re working to change that.

AF4Q – South Central PA, along with 15 other Aligning Forces for Quality communities, joined the Care About Your Care effort to encourage everyone in south central PA to:
·         Look for the right care.
·         Learn what quality care is and what’s being done to improve health care in America and here locally.
·         Live better by caring about your care.

In conjunction with our 2011 Annual Meeting, Dr. Oz hosted a national discussion with health care luminaries to celebrate the quality movement, and discuss the state of health care quality and steps Americans can take to improve their care. On September 15, the event showcased real examples of communities like ours that are joining physicians, employers and patients together in community-based efforts to improve care.

September has come and gone, but these tools will continue to be available, and we encourage you to spread the word about Care About Your Care and what’s happening locally. Visit www.CareAboutYourCare.org or contact Chris Amy for more information.
